The time has come around again for the national Drag Idol competition and our search to find the next scene star. We are proud to have an excellent standing in this event and have always managed to have our winner reach the final in every year the competition has run. Furthermore, we have won the competition TWICE in six years with Tanya Hyde being crowned in 2008 and Kevin Cruise in 2009. Last year both our acts Supasista and Lola Lypsinka came second and third in the national competition respectively ... so the bar has been set high!
We can now reveal the dates of our heats for the competition and they are:
HEAT ONE: SUNDAY 8TH MAY hosted by Titti La Camp
HEAT TWO: SUNDAY 15TH MAY hosted by Titti La Camp
HEAT THREE: SUNDAY 22ND MAY hosted by Titti La Camp
HEATS FINAL: SUNDAY 29TH MAY hosted by Tanya Hyde
THE RULES:
Who can enter? Anyone who hasn’t already a prolific profile of the gay cabaret scene as a performer. Also, even though the title is DRAG IDOL you do not need to be a drag artiste, as Kevin Cruise proved. We are looking for acts that will appeal to a gay audience but you can be a singer, dancer, mime act, comedian, magician ... in fact anything that will get a crowd applauding with glee!
What do I need to do? Make sure your act does not run over ten minutes as you will be penalised for doing so. We can supply microphones and help you with staging.
What do I win? Each winner of the venue heats final will receive a bottle of Champayne. If you reach the national final, which will be held at the end of June at the Two Brewers Bar in Clapham, London then you Ultimately can win a prize of receiving a fully paid gig in each of the participating venues .. together worth over £1500 !!! A perfect way to kick start a career as a performer !!
How do I enter: Easy!! Either print of the form which you can get by clicking HERE. Alternatively, you can pick up a form at the venue or the easiest method is to just email our host TITTI LA CAMP at Tittilacamp@gmail.com and say you want to enter and she can then supply you with all the answers you may require before the night.
